Multi-span greenhouse walls use large amounts of soil. After years of cultivation, topsoil with organic matter is mostly removed. Additionally, mechanical operations damage soil structure, gradually making it solid and unstructured. Vegetable production requires soil rich in organic matter, moderate sand content, good aggregate structure, deep soil layer, suitable pH, and relatively loose texture. Therefore, attention should be paid to soil improvement through cultivation to increase organic matter. Soil cultivation through deep plowing, turning soil, loosening, breaking, and leveling can increase total pores and non-capillary pores, improving soil aeration and water retention.
