Are Large Multi-span Greenhouses Really Practical?
Increased indoor space reduces temperature fluctuation compared to multiple single greenhouses. Smaller envelope area relative to floor area means less heat loss, reducing heating costs. Faster temperature rise allows earlier spring planting and extended fall production. Higher land utilization eliminates wasted space between separate structures. Shared infrastructure for heating and controls improves efficiency. However, large structures require more robust engineering and may have higher per-square-foot costs for repairs.
